What to Expect at Your Morpheus8 Appointment
Here’s how a Morpheus8 visit at New Skin YYC in Calgary works, from your first consultation to aftercare:
- Free consultation: your skin expert reviews your skin and goals and builds a customizable Morpheus8 plan for your face or body.
- Numbing: a numbing cream is applied and given time to activate, so the treatment stays comfortable.
- During treatment: tiny needles deliver radiofrequency energy deep into the skin, stimulating collagen and tightening tissue at a customizable depth.
- Afterwards: expect 5–7 days of minor swelling and redness — unlike traditional lasers, there’s no significant crusting, oozing, or weeping.
- Your plan: a series of 3 treatments at 4-week intervals; optimal results appear around 3 months as new collagen forms, and can last 12–18 months.

- Morpheus8 Body treatments are ideal for targeting sagging skin around the thighs and buttocks, cellulite, loose skin around the stomach and any scars that may be present.
Morpheus8 is the next level of microneedling where tiny needles deliver radiofrequency energy deep into the skin. These “micro injuries’ ‘ stimulate the bodies natural healing capabilities increasing the production of collagen and elastin that firms and tightens the skin. The added radiofrequency energy further enhances the bodies response while being able to target fat and truly contour the body.
- Visible results may be immediate however optimal results are typically visible three months following your Morpheus8 treatment. This is due to the body needing time to develop the new collagen via a process called Collagenesis which takes months to occur.
- The treatment is very thorough and patients can expect results to last 12 – 18 months or potentially depending the signs of aging. Annual follow-up sessions are recommended to maintain desired results.
- Although the procedure involves puncturing the skin the discomfort that is felt is very tolerable. Your skin expert will apply a numbing cream and allow time for it to activate prior to your treatment.
- Similar to a microneedling treatment, clients should ensure that you are not on any active ingredients for 7 days prior. These include retinoids, AHAs, BHAs or high concentrate vitamin C.
- Ensure you have not used Accutane for 6 months.
- Morpheus8 should be done at least 2 weeks after receiving injectables like Botox (Dysport) or filler
Following their Morpheus8 treatment, patients can expect to recover for 5-7 days while minor swelling and redness resolve. However, they will be pleased to know that, unlike traditional laser procedures, there is no significant crusting, oozing or weeping after a Morpheus8 treatment. In addition, some patients may even see facial skin improvement immediately after their treatment session.
It is recommended that a set of 3 treatments at 4 week intervals be done to achieve optimal results.
